“It was a life changing experience.”, Stan said, “There are so many people that need help and it’s heart-breaking that you can’t help every single one of them. We are doing a great work however, that will make a lasting tremendous difference in many people’s lives.”

Danny Peprah, a native Ghanian and CMMS team member, will be on-site for the remainder of the opening process.

In January of 2011, Daniel Peprah, an x-ray technologist in our Dallas/Ft. Worth region, approached Steve with an idea. Daniel, who is native to Ghana, explained to Steve how medical equipment and services are in desperate need in his home country, specifically to Kumasi, a city in south central Ghana. There is almost no medical equipment whatsoever in the city or the country, for that matter. The local clinic, whose doors see in excess of 500 people a day, can only service a fraction of that. This shortage leaves an enormous gap in care for the people of Kumasi.

After months of planning and hard work, Daniel’s idea is close to becoming a reality. Earlier this week, Danny, along with Stan Hunt, CMMS’s Fleet and PACS Manager, headed to Ghana to deliver x-ray equipment and set up x-ray service to this much needed region. “I’m excited to be a part in helping so many people and improving their quality of life”, Stan says.

We will be using this blog to keep everyone up to date as details of this wonderful effort unfold over the next few months. Stay tuned!
